Greetings to all,

I have read something which has caused some concern.
At the Izotope website there is a substantial quantity of information there which allows one to observe how explosive the Izotope folks have been.

Now just toward the lower right hand side of the webpage, the following statement could be found:

--> Sony's Sound Forge Audio Studio features iZotope VocalRemover Technology. more

Link=http://www.izotope.com/
Follow on link=http://www.izotope.com/tech/vocalremover/

Now I would like to know if the "Professional Version of Sound Forge includes this incredibly necessary feature".

Please genlemen and ladies, please look into this and provide both an answer and reason as to why this feature has not been emphasized for Professional Sound Forge Users.

Additional subjects for discussion will be to expand on the following items which are included in Sound Forge Studio:

(01) Built-in Show Me How tutorials
(02) Vinyl Recording and Restoration tool
(03) Vocal Eraser plug-in by iZotope™

In my opinion the Professional version should include these tools.

Thanks,
Kevin

Additionally is it possible to...

1. Purchase the Izotope Mastering effects pluggins for use outside of Sony Sound Forge 9.0c?

2. Purchase the Vocal removal pluggin for usage outside of Sound Forge Studio 9.0b?

Thanks,
Kevin

Thanks,
Kevin

If that link works it shows that the vocal remover is only available on
SF Audio Studio.

Is the vocal remover included with Sound Forge 9.0c?

I believe much of Izotope is included, but I have not used it yet.

You're not missing much. It makes the whole song sound awful. It may be that I'm not using it right, but man, what a waste of time and money.

OK - couple of things here. 1) Mastering bundle is available on other Sony software, that is post-sf9 release (ie, Vegas 8)

No, the vocal remover is not on the full SForge-it doesn't need to be.

Why? Either you are removing vox by selective EQ'ing (not good), or
b) by a technique known as centre-channel cancellation. It you know about phasing and stuff, then you have an idea how this works. If not, just look in the channel converter for the preset "vocal cut" under stereo to stereo - it does the donkey for you.

Do such techniques work - SOMETIMES. It removes central content, which is typical vocals and some sections of drums - but with every song being different, YMMV.

Maybe the Pro edition does not feel need to supply amateur-style tutorials because they expect the users to be more, um, 'Pro' ?

Though Vocal Removal is really a 'toy' thing, is would be nice to have in Pro.

Real vocal removers are a bit more sophisticted than mere 'centre channel removal', with an effort made to retain non-vocal centre information, such a bass and low drums, and higher treble.

They can be very effect, but milages do vary, and some people have unrealistic blanket expectations, not helped by over-vigorous advertising claims.

I guess it can be used as an effect of sorts...I tried it and I was not so impressed.
