No more AC3 swirly icon?

Seems that after I updated VP8 & DVD-A Pro to the A versions, I no longer have the little AC3 logo/icon show in explorer view for the AC3 files.

Historically, I found every time I updated Vegas, you would lose the AC3 icon until you uninstalled, then reinstalled DVD-A. Never fixed this even after *years* of mentioning it.

Now, I unstalled DVD-A, reinstalled the A version and still no AC3 icon.

Has this been discontinued?

To tell you the truth, that is the only reason I even bought DVD-A was for the AC3 icon.

No more?

Funny, the only reason I bought DVD-A was for the Hello Kitty interface. :-)

I am not sure why I would still have the AC3 swirly icon until I installed VP8a and DVDAP4.5a. I still had it after installing the non-a root versions versions of the aforementioned programs.

We use to have it for Vegas 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.0, but suddenly not for 8.0a?

I just checked on my dual-boot install and for sure the icon goes away that I had up til VP8.0.

Create a new text document and paste this inside:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Save it with any name you like, but make sure the extension is .reg

Double click it and the registry will be updated. Restart (or wait a few minutes) and the twirly icon will reappear

Thanks! I really appreciate it.

I did have to do a reboot.

I didn't have to reboot, but I was manually changing the file association for GIFs at the same time...
