OT: Editing Already Compressed Video, Part Duex

agreatheight wrote on 10/12/2007, 3:21 PM
I have a client who wants me to edit already compressed video. All I will be doing is removing sections. I don't want to use a program that will recompress on export - I need a program that allows editing native within the compression. I used Womble to do this with .mpg files on an earlier project and it worked like a charm. My question is, are there any programs that can do this with .wmv files or .avi files?

Thanks in advance!

I use the inexpensive program Easy Video Splitter, but they also have a "joiner" product similarly priced:

Maybe these will work for you? Their Splitter program is great, though the user interface is slightly rough around the edges.

If it's DV-AVI, Vegas won't do any further compression if all you're doing is cutting things out,
If it's an AVI other than this, my favourite is VirtualDub.
Check VideoHelp for WMV tools.
