Well it's not exactly free, they want your details but I think they can be trusted. Even if you don't have any plans to be shooting 3D any time soon Chapter 2 has some interesting information.
Very informative for anyone into 3d photography or cinematography. Even though it was written before we had photoshop and Vegas, all that stuff about how we see in 3d and the experiments he did on improving the comfort level of viewing in 3d is relevant today.
Right now the best method for home viewing would be with LCD shutter glasses + certain DLP projectors (Or the new 3D HDTV's from Samsung and Mitsubishi) http://www.dlp.com/hdtv/3-d_dlp_hdtv.aspx
:) As it turns out, I looked him up and the author of that book (Lenny Lipton) went on to invent LCD shutter glasses! Cool guy.
