I guess we'll just have to wait and see what the 'new mixing console' is all about.

The literature only touts the mixer as "New" - everything else seems the same. However, take a look at the new video features and then go check out the video forum. The folks over there are acting like Sony has given them the holy grail in Vegas 8!! I've never seen anything close to that type of user response to any audio release and I've been around here since Vegas 1 and Acid 1. Pretty obvious where Sony's resources and energies are focused. Of course that's been obvious for a few years now - just not quite as dramatic as Vegas 8 confirms it.

On either Sony's product description off of the main page, or the Video Guys write up, probably authored by Sony, they describe a re-written audio stack that supports multi-thread processing. This would strongly suggest faster audio rendering and lower latency on recording with plug-ins. Overall, this sounds like a massive overhaul of Vegas.

I found this bit of info over at digital pro sound...

http://digitalprosound.digitalmedianet.com/articles/viewarticle.jsp?id=177852

Vegas Pro 8 New Audio Features:

-- Audio Mixing Console

-- Audio Routing Enhancements

-- Tempo-based audio effects

-- Support for opening and rendering FLAC files

We'll know if they addressed the long standing routing issues I guess on sept 7.

Ed.

BTW...I'm more interested in what we'll see in acid 7 since thats the app that is getting all the audio enhancements.

Vegas adds support for Bus Sends. That is, a bus can send audio to other bus/assignable FX bus just like a track can. (No circular/feedback routing is permited, sorry<g>)

We have added back support for sending the "panned" track signal.

For once, some very good news! That's a couple of important things I and others here having been requesting for a long time. Looking at the screenshot, the mixer looks like it'll be pretty useful.

I don't suppose we have folder tracks in this release too? Also, long awaited and would benefit even more now we have this new mixer...
