Editing Already Compressed Video

agreatheight wrote on 8/29/2007, 7:53 PM
I have a client who wants me to edit already compressed video. All I will be doing is removing sections of the video and saving the pieces with new names. In other words, say I have a 1 minute video that is 2 megs I want to delete the first half and be left with a 1 meg file with the compression intact. Can do I do that in Vegas? If so, how? If not, is there any program out there that can do this? I don't want to import it and recompress on export, and I do not have access to the original uncompressed files.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks J.

Womble looks like a winner for me. I have done a small amount of testing in their demo and it looks like what I need. Anyone have any negatives to say about this program?

It has a goofy company name.

True enough, but it works great. I highly recommend it for this use.

"It has a goofy company name. "

Might I say in defence of THE Wombles that they were the earliest Environmentalists and recylers on Wimbledon Common!

"Underground, overground, Wombling free
The Wombles of Wimbledon Common are we..."

Created by Elisabeth Beresford, it was one of her kids that was heard to say the "mispronunciation" as being "Wombledon Common".

Recycling? Re-coding? Is this a coincidence? I think not!!

So beware, dear hearts, mock not!

Uncle Bulgaria

Strictly speaking, they were, of course, re-users which is even more environmentally friendly than recycling.
And reusing, rather than recycling, is what is required by agreatheight so it's particuarly appropriate.
