iZotopes plugs not available to Vegas?

farss wrote on 5/3/2007, 7:18 AM
Just installed SF9 along with the iZotopes plugs.
I thought these would also be available to Vegas but I can't find them.
I recall something about the original installer being a little too free and installing them so they were available to everything and that was supposed to be fixed so they were only available to Sony products. Maybe they got too 'fixed'?

Bob, here's the quote from Forum Admin from the "Izotope Bungle" thread in the SF Forum:

"The Izotope plug-ins should only be visible in Sound Forge 9.0 and in future updates or versions of Sound Forge, ACID, and Vegas. That is the agreed upon behavior spelled out in our bundling arrangement with Izotope.

An earlier version of the Izotope installer mistakenly exposed the plug-ins to other hosts. This installer is no longer available."

I was lucky enough to purchase the "mistaken exposure" version and they are available in Vegas and Acid here.

>>>iZotopes plugs not available to Vegas?<<<

And this is a bad thing? ;)P

Sorry, just a joke (izotope goes straight to the trash bin here).

OK, jaydeee, I'll bite.
I know iZotopes doesn't get good press from the audio community at all. So what's a comparable set of plugs that will not break the bank?

What I'd like to see is Madison doing a deal with Oxford, at least keep it in the fold and have an offer of something that does have a good reputation.

Bob,

Wavearts are very, very good.

www.wavearts.com

Voxengo is excellent if you can get past his funky UI designs.

The folks at Kjaerhus Audio produce some very decent stuff too.

My pick for best value for the dollar is the Sonitus Suite formally by Ultrafunk (now owned by Cakewalk) . I use these day in and day out. They have one of the best gates going right now.

Goes without saying that Universal audio makes the very best there is right now...but enough of those could easily break the bank...:)

Cheers!

... and if you didn't get the early version you can still sort of access iZotope stuff in Vegas by opening copy of audio to SF9 then saving it back as a new take.

Just installed Vegas 7e and the iZotope plug-ins show up in the Third Party folder.

rique - did you buy SF9 in the first couple of days of release? That may be the determinant ....
rique wrote on 5/4/2007, 12:24 AM
Actually, no. I bought SF9 on April, 28th. I had installed the demo earlier but that didn't come with the plug-ins. I just checked and they show up in my laptop installation too and I hadn't installed the demo there. I think that you are supposed to have them with the "e" update, just not in non-Sony programs, which seems to be the error of the first version. Yeah, I just checked and they don't show up in Acid 6d. Prolly will in Acid 6e.

That's strange - I definitely have them in Acid 4.0d

Bob - are you using Vegas 7.0e?

I assume that's because you installed the first version with the error that allows them to be seen in any other program. I installed the corrected version that only allows them in SF9, V7e, and futures updates & versions of other Sony programs.

No, only 6.o on the PC with SF9.
I'll install 7.0e later and see if they show up there.

Even if they do work this argy bargy with plugs seems counter to the concept of how they're supposed to work, at least by my limited understanding of such things. I thought the concept was, you install a plug and it was available to all applications.

Generally that is true - if the host app supports the plugin then it work, but some plugs do have built in restrictions.

For example, when I bought Sonar 6PE it came with a Lexicon Pantheon reverb plugin which will only run when in Sonar, even though it shows up in Vegas.
BrianStanding wrote on 5/4/2007, 3:58 PM
On my system (7.0e), they're in the "Third Party" folder, but they're called "Mastering EQ," "Mastering Limiter," and "Mastering Reverb," not "iZotopes."

Ummm, if you're thinking "Sony Oxford" plugs, they are now "Sonnox" per http://www.kvraudio.com/news/7045.html

What's next? Will Sony Vegas be referred to as "Segas" to match?

With a Bundle! Buy Segas, Get Sonnox!
