Wedding videographers, what brand tapes do you use for your wedding shoots? If you're using a PD170. The more I read the information the more i'm confused. Is it okay to use the Sony mini dv premium? the ones in blue wrapping? If so can I use them using the dvcam feature on the pd170 running at 40minutes. I never had any confusion on the x2100. Thanks for answering all these ?'s.

((Yes, but i wouldnt bother.. cost vs return isnt worth it for weddings IMO... Panasonic PQ's are perfectly sufficient))

((Dunno why youd want to, but yes.. another option is to use 83min tapes as this will give you about an hour in DVCam... DVCam was designed to tighten the audio video sync, so if u have issues with audio use DVCam.. IMO for weddings, if i was to use DVCam format, i would only be for the Ceremony. Then again I now use DVX100's which doesnt have any audio sync isues so DVCam is obsolete for what i do... There will always be those who say DVCam is better.. but from what ive seen its no different.. its still 25mbps

I never had any confusion on the x2100. Thanks for answering all these ?'s.

((Well, the VX2100 doesnt record DVCam so i wouldnt worry about it.. :) ))

I only use the pq's from panasonic (ay-dvm83pq) are the ones I use 99% of the time. They are the 83 minute ones. They are a little more expensive than the 63 minute pq's. But it sure beats sweating a tape change during an important part. WEVA offers a deal on tapes from tapeandmedia.com I believe, but I can usually get them cheaper through B&H.
