This is the best SF yet, imho. 1. When playing a file, one can jump to another spot by clicking where you want to go to, and you're there, same as Vegas, very handy for quick reviewing. 2. Very fast response in general.

I've recently built a new system with an Intel board, that has ICH7-DH, which includes support for Native Command Queueing for SATA. There seems to be little documentation on what this accomplishes, you have to look quite a bit on Intel's site. XP starts much faster, all apps load faster. You have to make the choice to use the AHCI interface at Windows installation time, and load a special Intel driver from floppy, aka F6 method. Well worth the effort.

Ahhh, so you're the guy who wanted this! :P

Seriously I can't get on with this behaviour at all. J from Sony has alluded to the fact that they're going to put an option in to enable us to revert to the previous way of working. I really hope so - I can't use SF 9 as is because of it!

P.S. FWIW, Vegas *doesn't* do this unless you're clicking on the ruler or the empty area below the tracks. It'd drive me mad in Vegas too.

You're right, in Vegas I click below the bottom track for the quick jump-to. Actually I've requested very little over the years. The only thing I've asked for in the past year is an .ac3 De-Coder, to play back the surround files. It's a pain to try to use Power DVD, which does have a file input selection, because their channel layout is different. Not all that bad with RME Multiface, as I can create a preset for the PowerDVD channel mapping. To be honest, I haven't tried the surround stuff in SF9, maybe Peter put one in.

I hope the option on/off becomes a reality. I would at least prefer the Vegas way of clicking on the ruler. That way you can place the cursor where you want to refer back to OR make the playback jump and actually have a choice.

I've also noticed that hitting page up and page down key jumps back and forward, while audio continues to play. That may not be new, I don't remember ever trying it before. I find that very handy for quick checks, after applying an effect such as compression, eq, or whatever.
