If you're offering I'll take it!

No seriously any additions to Vegas would be helpful.

As I run on a Mac Pro I've just bought FCP (FCS actually) and though FCP is a powerful editor it's like going back to Premiere to edit video.

Soundtrack Pro is large a heap of C***p compared to Vegas or ProTools but Motion is seriously nice and DVD Studio is still out there for me to learn but I've heard good things.

End result is that I keep coming back to Vegas for the bulk of my video work and about 60% of the audio (shared with PT).

Vegas still has some ground to make up on professionally interfacing with other systems as well as some of it's own internal offerings.

Whether that's realtime TC interfacing, MIDI or import and export of material to and from other DAWs or NLEs there are major gaps in the software and third party apps shouldn't be the answer.

I think we've all added to the wish lists before. Let's hope someone at Sony is reading these posts.

I used to think that but more and more I just capture video and disregard any external locking.

Mind you the JL Cooper MIDI to SMPTE box I think is fantastic. Last year I did a recording for BBC in London here in Sydney. BBC sent time code down ISDN, I locked vegas to that and projected vision to vo in booth. Audio went back up the ISDN to London. Very cool. So London was driving the whole session and vision and TC and Vegas all worked great!

Taz--

I've had issues with using Vegas as a master with 29.97 NDF...
As a slave, if the person wants to stop and start often, I find that I have to keep on resetting Vegas or turning the JL cooper box on and off...

We tried a similar situation to yours with Vegas as a test, and had all sorts of issues... can you email me so we can talk about your setup perhaps?

Hi there,

email me on philip@muscatello.com.au. But I found most problems were solved by telling the drivers to leave plenty of lead up. I have heard that there is problems with 29.97 where the brits and us use 25fps.

Not sure if I can enlighten you any more, but indeed let's talk

Sorry,

I've just realised how ambiguous that last post was. I told the engineer sending the timecode to give plenty of lead up to allow Vegas the 2 or so seconds it needs to get the timecode into gear.

Hey Steve, how's things still lost in the twilight zone between Vegas and PT :) ?

Regards,

Phil

I am a location sound mixer for film and video and record with stand alone recorders that record BWF Poly. I don't do the sync to picture but I'd love to be able to "fix" any problems I might find before delivery of my tracks.

I would like the ability to open polyphonic BWF files with timecode, perform processing functions, and then be able to re-save them as BWF files with timecode for delivery to audio video post houses.

Would also love to have the ability to select an audio track containing LTC wave forms and convert that to usable timecode within the timeline.
