Vegas 6 editing & dual monitor issue

I recently set up dual monitors with my system (using Matrox 450 video card) and I've discovered that when editing (in this case, mainly creating crossfades on 24/44.1 wav files), the events tend to be "sticky" when moving them with either the mouse or keyboard commands - very jerky - almost as if it needs some oil or other lubrication to move as smoothly as usual. After rebooting, all seems normal for about 4 or 5 edits and then the problem returns. I disabled the 2nd monitor (a CRT) and this seemed to fix the problem. The 450 video card is tried and proven for many users and I've never experienced any problems with it using a single monitor and it has appeared to work fine with the dual monitors until I started this editing (the first time I've done so with the 2 monitor setup) . This whole thing seems quite weird. Does anyone have any comments, suggestions, whatever??

Thanks!!

I used to use a G-400 some years back but have moved on to ATI and now nVidia cards.

I don't know how much video RAM your video card has or what screen resolution your are running your monitors at but I'd suggest you look at a faster card. You are AGP based andI've had good success with ATI 9600 cards and you can get Nvidia AGP cards at quite good prices. All the new cards support dual monitors and most have one DVI and one VGA with a DVI to VGA converter plug if both monitors are VGA.

Increasing your system RAM wouldn't hurt either.

Your specs state 512Mb-1Gb Vegas will always appreciate a RAM increase.
Neither of these upgrades should cost enomous amounts and, if you can afford them, will probably solve your problems.

Thanks New Hope. I think I've solved the issue by updating the video card driver. I've got a gig of ram now and soon am planning to upgrading my CPU and bumping ram to 2 gigs (will see what Santa brings).

Thanks again. . .

There's also a selection for "bus mastering" in the Matrox preferences. Try whichever one is not selected.......it's either enable bus mastering or not.

Away from that machine, but I remember making the switch on my 450 and it helped all around video performance.
