I can't get an "event" to drag anywhere. It takes the entire video to the new track. I can't delete or add a segment. Understand, I've only had this software for a day, but I did read the book, and followed the "show me how", but it still ain't happening. Am I missing something easy?

are your clips maybe grouped ? if so right click on the event and you will see a option called group, remove from.
grabbing the event with the curser and moving left/right drags, up/down moves to a new track. Probably know this but if not may help

No, I didn't know that. I read that "Quick Start Manual" 3 times already, and I never spotted the "right click on event" stuff. I think I truly am an idiot with this stuff! I'll try playing with that. Thanks!

Still doesn't work. It moves the entire file. Maybe it's because this is a video file that I already had on the hard drive? Is each "frame" an event? When it shows as one frame or "box" on the track, it actually contains about 5 seconds of video. I was trying to delete, and then replace a segment of one "box".

each video is an event 2 seconds or 2 hours , you need to split the event, then delete the section you want rid of (chapter4 page 105,in tfm, 109 on pdf)
put your curser where you want to split and hit s on the keyboard, this will then give you two events.m ove the curser and hit s again ,now you have trhree events and so on

The box that you see is the frame of video at that exact moment, but it is all part of the same event - and that event may well be the entire video if you have not split it up. The s key will split the event (video, audio, or both) at the point of the blinking cursor.

Yes, I got it now! Can't thank you guys enough! I'm new at this, but I still didn't see anything about "splitting" in that Quick Start Manual. That was my number one problem... I wasn't splitting, and the whole video was one event. I'm sure I'll fumble around more, and have more questions, but at least I can play around with it now! Thanks again!

You came to the right place Tree, this forum is a great help to me. Do yourself a favor and pick a few search topics and start reading. Most every newbie question has been addressed at least once. Even when you ask one of those "I'm an Idiot" questions, you'll always get a reply.

Now if only this forum would send auto notify emails when you got a new response....

Vegas is a very robust application like try learn to use in a day or in a week, the practice is the first goal in any project, simple or complex.

Sure in a month or two you'll can use Vegas in a 25% because, Vegas work more with the user's mind, V.6 has many, many custom configurations than Premier Pro 2 hasn't it.

Just use it a lot and don't get you blue!
