OT: Duel Core or Dual Processor ?

I'm getting some Christmas presents for myself this year, including an upgrade to Vegas 6 (from current v4.0) and a new desktop PC. The question is - which will I get a bigger bang for my buck - a single dual core processor, OR dual processors ?

If money is no object (in realtiy it is) would a duel processor dual core be the way to go ?

I have read that Vegas 6.0 takes advantage of multiple processors, whereas my current Vegas 4.0 does not.

Any thoughts, observations, and/or experience would be appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, it would be.

If you want value, I would go for a single dual-core chip on a motherboard that supports two chips. Then in six months or so if you need more speed, you can buy another cpu. That second cpu should be much cheaper by then.

Search this board for the AMD X2. That seems to be far and away the best chip available.

I agree with Buster on this. That is my plan when I get the ol tax return back. I can make due with a dual core until the prices fall further and then pop in another dual core for twice the speed later on.

I just want to find a good mobo that will support it. Any suggestions anyone?

Definately go with the AMD X2. It runs a lot cooler and if your doing a bit of gaming on your free time...well, it just about does it. Try to get a good graphics card too, so you can see all those beautiful colors your creating.
