Subject:How's the Sound Forge 8 Update?

I decided to hold off upgrading to SF8 when I heard of all your guys' troubles.

I was curious as to how the now available update helped the most pressing issues, if at all.

Anything?

Thanks.

Just installed it. The principle bugs that affected me: non-functioning cutlist, non-functioning ctrl-shift-right arrow, and the unwanted resetting of the plugin chainer, are all fixed. Finally. Haven't checked any of the other bugs yet, but the list of bugfixes is long and likely accurate.

Edit: Also just discovered that another problem has been fixed: I was previously unable to audition CD's using my FireWire Pioneer DVR-109 (which did work in SF6). Now working.

Just installed and briefly tested - sofar thumbs up for the team for fixing the problems i had come across. So no more clicking noises when trying to record and great to see the glitchfinder is working!

I still have to check auto trim/crop in Batch Converter, but I verified that all of the other bugs I reported are fixed.

OK.

Thanks for the feedback. That's the kind of info I'm looking for.

Hopefully, we will get a similar fix for Vegas 6 issues soon...

Thanks again!

Well...I can actually record now with no problems. I couldn't record using my ASIO drivers before and now I can. All kinds of clicking and gapping, no matter what settings I used. This was the only bug that was affecting my own workflow (I was having to record into Cubase and then edit in Sound Forge, an extra and unnecessary step).
Good work, update team.

In SF8 before the update to 8.0a (just downloading) I had only one issue which is not that strange, as VST-support is new. plugs like QuantumFX or others were MUCH slower than in Soundforge6. But no crash. The only crash I got was with a little and fine Convolution reverb called Convoboy. If loading an IR SF freezes and you have to start the program (not the PC) new. As the acoustic mirror is there I thought nobody would be interested. The producer of this little fine plugin told me all other hosts had no problem with convoboy. So now I go testing :-).
What I don't like much is that I get a mail every week telling me I should buy Vegas6 (as I own Vegas3LE). But the update-email doesn't come. People, that is not good service, and nearly all the other factories are more polite in that. I don't think it would be a revolution or this difficult to change that soon.

Be sure to un-install SF8. I tried doing the usual update, but the prog acted quite wierd, open an existing .wav file (32-bit-IEEE-Float that was rendered from Vegas 6), and immediately a Unknown Error box, then try to down-arrow to be able to see entire file, and peak display would disappear. After uninstalling and installing 8.0a, accepting overwrite of all files found in existing SF8 directory, all is well.

This does require re-registering, but no big deal on that.
