Boris FX 7 or AE Standard 5.5

I can either get Boris FX 7 (for $199 - about £110) or AE Standard 5.5 for £240. Any advice on which is best would be appreicated. I have tried both demos but woudl appreicate any input. I have Boris Graffitti 3.0 so am aware of the clunky Boris / Vegas interface and unsual Boris workflow.

Thanks.

Boris FX is good, but it is nowhere near as powerful as AfterEffects. They are very different apps.

Boris FX basically has some cool effects you can apply to your video. That's pretty much it. AfterEffects does that plus tons more. You can make a career out of learning all that AfterEffects has to offer.

There is no comparison. AE is far more powerful.

(Boris *Red*, however, is a different story.)

Thanks Kentwolf. I hope this doesn't sound a stupid question but could you or anyone list some of the major things that one can do in AE (sStandard version 5.5 that is) that you can't in Boris FX?

I realise this is a bad time for this query what with a few other new software packages being released (!) but woudl appreicate any input.
