Sampling Rate During Capture

Trying to capture and record straight onto an external DVD recorder (Phillips) which has a Ilink / Firewire port on the front.

However the manual is saying that i have to change the sound setting to 32KHZ at 12 bit.

Isn't this deteriorating the sound from the original DV format? Plus i can't seem to use the "print to tape" function straight with the external burner which i thought would be compatible?

Any thoughts?

I don't if Vegas will do a PTT with 12/32K audio but you can try, render to an AVI with the audio set to that, it might fly. Hardly the way to get decent sound though. However I'm pretty certain all DVD burners will handle 16/48K audio. If you've struck one that will not I'd be taking it back real quick.
