OT: motion BG collecting...

Red96TA wrote on 1/21/2005, 8:15 AM
Anybody else out there have the expensive hobby of collecting motion BG's? I find myself picking up titles just because I MIGHT use them someday...and with the price of Digital Juice down to $99, it's hard to control myself.

Speaking of which...why do places like Artbeats and Eyewire feel the need to charge $600 for one pack while Digital Juice and Digital Hotcakes are under $100?

Have you checked out the 12 inch design stuff? I think they are a new shop with 7 or 8 volumes offered. I have bought a couple of thier things and they are great.

One more product to buy for the video habit (or is it a hobby?)

Another place to check out is Kick Back Tracks If you think $99 is cheap you'll definately love these :)

Something interesting to do yourself is to open a jumpback in Paintshop Pro and apply whatever effects or changes you like and then record your changes (like a macro) and batch render all the files with the same changes and you have just made new jumpbacks.

For example if they were red and you wanted blue....done.

I make most (all really) of the changes I need to Jumpbacks and other items from Digital Juice using Vegas alone. The HSL FX allows you to easily modify the entire color balance of the loops very easily. No other product required (I don't even use their "Juicer" to do these sorts of things.

Why not just do the same in Vegas with all the effects at your finger tips plus great plugs like Pixelan Spice's Ive made some pretty cool mod's to even the Sony Vision series ones.

Boy you guys are touchy.

Yes Vegas does lots, but Paintshop also has a ton of filters and effects and is easy to use. And you can save the presets.

It was just a suggestion to make some rather than buy them.

Touchy? No. Wanting to fill in the gaps is all. How come providing oher ideas for doing this (with the tools we all already have) is considered touchy. How odd.

Touchy? who's touchy? I'm not touchy! why would you say I'm touchy?Do I sound touchy?I dont feel touchy when I touch myself?

Just kidding Nickle,
Like Liam said just filling in the gaps, plus I was wondering if there was something else maybe you do in PSP that I dont know about ?Do you have the Virtual painter plug? It looks kinda cool.

To answer the original post, I am no longer as compulsive as I was - I bought 100 texture loops on a "might use" basis, but I never have used any, except to make a 100 track video wall to demonstrate the Tsunami script to the local Vegas group!

In fact, if I do want a moving background, I tend to build a composited one with the Noise Generator and other generated media such as checkerboard.

Epirb

Glad you have a sense of humour.

Another thing you can do with PSP is use the Animation Shop to make titles or text which rotates in a wheel, explodes, spirals, shakes, expands, squeezes down to nothing and a dozen other effects. Then save as an image sequence with an alpha channel and import into Vegas.

You can also paint the text sequence.

You can bring the first image back into Paintshop and use "Picture tubes" to design photorelistic toys, tools, leaves, rocks, rope, pinecones, popcorn, water, springs, jelly beans and a ton of other things to surround the text or title (like a mask)and batch apply it to the sequence.

You can then apply 3d chisel or cutout or glowing edges or sunburst or colored chalk and any number of effects to that and you have a thousand different Title effects which look very good and rival the other titling plugins. They are also unique so you design what you want and change what you want.

Then the virtual painter will make it all look like watercolor or tapestry or needlepoint.

Then apply that to your jumpback and smoke it.

The difference between jumpbacks and Eyewire or Artbeats is based on quality, and there is a huge quality difference. PLus, at the higher price, you have a better chance of not seeing the same background or footage on someone else' video or menu, because they're buying the lowercost tools
