Subject:Wave Hammer turned into demo version?!?

Can someone help me or give me pointers where to look? I updated my SF to 7b, but I didn't notice until today when I wanted to use WaveHammer it has this beep throughout the soundclip, and it turned out it's a demo version? I thought WH is included in SF? I checked my serial number & stuff and it's a correct one since I got my SF working just fine. So what happened here? Anybody can give me advise? Thanks.

Marty

Had the same problem with two upgrades from 6 -> 7. Ended up calling Customer Support. Works fine now.

Did you have to reinstall everything? Something that I'm trying to avoid.

Try the migration tool in the start menu.

I have the same problem. The migration tool wouldn't work because there was nothing for it to grab onto. What I mean was that I went back and checked WH in SF6 and it was in demo mode also. What I got back from Sony when I emailed their support was that SF6 and SF7 can't exist on the same computer at the same time. You have to delete SF6 and SF7, muck about in Windows Registry, and re-install SF7. There is an entry in the knowledgebase on this, and I believe it is titled "Wave Hammer beeps .....". Sorry I don't remember the whole title of the question.

SF6 and SF7 certainly can exist on the same machine. They just shouldn't share the same install folder.

If both are still installed, find sfhammer.dll in the 7.0 directory and drag-and-drop it on an open instance of either, then click Yes to re-register it.

Sonic:
I was just going by what Sony tech support said. If you search the knowledge base for the article I mentioned in my previous post, you'll find what I'm talking about. It specifically says to uninstall SF6 and SF7, etc.

I replied:
Tried this when I got home, and yes, it does re-register WH, but the beep like it's still in demo mode is still there. When you bring up the window for WH, it also still shows that it's in demo mode.

Hi,
I had exactly the same "demo" show up with my Wave Hammer and a couple of other effects after installing XP SP2. It scrambled all my A/V software and I ended up re installing each one and in my case it fixed the problem and my WH worked again.
I have Vegas 4e, Sound Forge 7, Acid 3, DVDA 1

Maybe a reinstall would work for you if all else fails.

Good Luck,
Teaktart

I just encountered the same problems with Wave Hammer - Demo, after it's been running smoothly for months without incident. I really appreciated this thread because I didn't notice the big DEMO notice in Wave Hammer until I read it here. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong, and spent way too much time last night, trying to fix a problem that wasn't my fault (defragging six drives, rechecking patches, poking around in the spectrum analyzer to see how I could have introduced bizarre artifacts that could only be heard after using Wave Hammer, etc.).

I noticed that Wave Hammer Surround doesn't seem to be affected on my version of SF7.0b, and when you're only using two tracks, I don't think it uses the surround features anyway. I found it by adding it to my Favorites. The only downside I've found so far is that it doesn't see the custom presets from the standard version, but it's a lot easier than reinstalling if you're trying to finish a project.

Hope this helps someone, even though I'm sure you resolved this problem long ago.

I also noticed other plug-ins in SF going into demo mode, or being told I had to buy them - like Acouistic Modeler, as well as Wave Hammer. I have not installed SP2 for Windows, and won't. It's basically a security related patch, which I take care of by running Norton Internet Security, as well as the paid version of Adaware and Spybot Searche & Destroy. Enough of that, back to the topic at hand.
I deleted SF6 and SF7b, making sure there were no registry entries left over from SF6. I then re-installed the SF7b update only, and things work okay now (knock on wood). Apparently things bollixed up even though I let SF7 install into the default directory that came up in the installer program (I originally had SF6 and upgraded to SF7). I did NOT force SF7 to install into the SF6 directories. So my machine now has just SF7b.
