I'm not quite sure what's happening. Anyway...

Check the programs that are loaded at Windows startup; if there are too many, that may use a lot of memory.

Disable screen savers, background image, background utilities, etc...

Is your virtual memory (swap file) configured correctly ? For instance, it should be 1.5 times your physical memory.

Try searching the web : some sites explain the best way to configure computers for running audio applications.

There are no extra softwares that load at startup, just msn messenger and a few essencial softwares. There are no screensaves or extra things run on my computer. How do i configure swap file? any idea?

Go to the knowlegebase and search for Answer ID 1155.

Have you "tweaked" your system in any way as recommended by some of the XP for Audio type web sites?

Hello,

I can't get to the link you posted, but i guess it's an out of or low memory error, Go to you memory settings in windows and set both the minimum, and maximum for twice the amount of ram you have which would be the same as mine 1024. This fixed memory errors for me.

See ya, Rockitglider

I replied:
I was following this thread out of curiosity and saw your answer/querstion. I don't have a problem on start-up of Acid Pro 5, but wondered what you meant by this question. Are you implying that one shouldn't tweak WinXP (Home or Pro) to optimize it for audio work? Or are there certain tewaks that could or would cause a problem with Sony software? Not accusing, just trying to understand.
As an aside, who do I contact about making suggestions for tweaks to the forum operation? Would like to see an easy way to quote a previous post as well as having a signature that could be automatically applied to a reply post.
Thanks
Jack

We don't officially support any of the "tweaks" - that is we do not test against them. We test with fully configured and basically default system settings for XP and Win2K. Any changes that turn off services and such will lead to unexpected results and potentially lead to problems that we may not be able to solve. If any user has made such changes - especially to services - the only recourse to start trouble shooting is to undo the tweaks you have made. While the tweaks may be "fine with all of my other software", the number of different possible configurations makes it impossible for us to support such changes.

I don't know who to contact about the forums.

Peter
