Problem Decoding MPEG 2

Hi. I'm trying to use a raw DVD vob file in vegas, however decoding of the file seems kind of glitchy. There are frequent jumps (both in preview and render), and data from other parts of the vob file appearing in where it shouldn't be. Oddly these problems only seem to affect MPEG 2 files. I tried to convert the video to WMV before working on it just to see if it would work, but virtual dub sees the time as ~2 min shorter than its supposed to be. The file plays flawless in Media Player Classic and Videolan (correct time and all). Is it possible to change the MPEG 2 decoder in vegas to try another. If it helps I am using version 5.0b. Thank you.

About the only thing I can think of would be to drop the VOB file into Vegas, and render right away to DV AVI. Working with MPEG2 is nasty.

Using the default DV AVI settings would have made a file far too large for me to store but I managed to compress it using xvid at ~5gigs from a 700 meg vob file (that was the only way I could keep the quality I need). However, when I replace the media, the time indexes are off, yet again, despite the lengths of the movies being the EXACT same. Something tells me that it doesnt want me to make this video lol.

You might try DVD2AVI and see if it will correctly pull apart the VOB for you - then you could save it as a DV AVI.
