On the Soundforge 70. installer i got only the first line of:C:\program files\sony\sound forge 7.0
and the second line is missing C\program files\shared plug-insOn my other compter it works fine with the installer program.

The installer program will ask you where to install the program. Did you tell it to put it on the CD rom???!!!

After the new disk and BIOS run all your maintainence utilities and defrag, chkdsk etc and clean registry and get a clean machine before you start the install.

When the machine is clean also record a restore point before installinh SoundForge just in case you have problems again

It almost sounds like Windows is confused as to which drives have which drive letters.

Your main drive should be C:, followed by your second drive, which should be D:. Your CD-ROM drive should be E:.

Try going to Start>Control Panel>Performance and Maintenance>Administrative Tools and then double-click on Computer Management. On the tree to the left, click Disk Management. In the windows to the right, it should tell you which drives have which drive letters. You can change these drive letters here.

(Remember that if you change drive letters for your CD-ROM, you may have to reinstall programs that expect to find the program's CD-ROM using the former drive letter.)
