Just checked my order and Amazon tells me the expected delivery date is november 4th to november 8th...! (mind you I ordered the instant Boris book, so shipping may be dependent on the avilability of the latter...)
Alistair, check the price difference between amazon.com and the uk site: If I rememeber correctly, the book is almost half the price from the amazon.com.
I've heard this from 3 different people at this point, so I don't know what Amazon is up to. I've got an order in to Amazon, we always do so we can track when they start shipping vs when our publisher's warehouse starts shipping. My understanding was that first orders were going out last friday or today to the warehouses.
Amazon might be just dealing with automated responses, rather than a human being involved.
I just checked my order from Amazon and it listed a delivery date of October 7, 2004 - October 25, 2004. Maybe the variance is due to processed orders and expected shipments from distributor. First come first served!
In all honesty, I have an amazing support group behind me. I'm pretty damn fortunate that way. And with these forums, you guys provide the information necessary to write a book based on questions, what people seem to be confused about, etc.
I'll surely look forward to everyone's comments on the new book when it arrives on your doorsteps!
Sept 16 - no book :-( and counting . . . common Amazon . . . don't fail me now. Guess I'll render something and take a walk, and a vodka martini. My! The fall colors are peaking up here in the Rockies! Better shoot some stock. Darryl
Nope, other than I know it's shipping to the warehouses. I received my first copy yesterday, expecting a shipment of them on Monday if UPS Tracking is accurate. I'm pretty psyched.
I ordered my book from Amazon on 10 Jul, and after contacting them they said it'd probably ship "sometime in October." Said they had "supply fluxuations," which I find hard to believe. How could they not 1) know how many pre-orders they had to at least fill them, and 2) how does a company like Amazon NOT have "pull" with every publisher out there???
In any case, I ordered from one of their "Marketplace Merchants" (A1Books) (click on the "4 books available New & Used from $35.31"). Had to pay a couple more dollars ($35) and pay for shipping ($3-something), but the book ACTUALLY SHIPPED yesterday, so just waiting for UPS ...
Can't wait to get my hands/eyes on that book & DVD. Got a lot to learn ...
I read this and immediately went to my e-mail to call up my Amazon order confirmation - and guess what - there was a shipping notice! Hot Dog! Don't tell my wife. Darryl
