The DVD Arch template creates a system/program stream; the other template creates an elementary stream. DIfferent authoring software prefers different stream types - DVD Lab for instance wants an elementary stream, but will import a system stream (converting it to elementary). So if you were going to author with DVD Lab, you'd want to use the "NTSC Video" template rather than the template for DVDA.

I'm having trouble figuring this out....

In MS I select "Make Movie" then "Save it to your hard drive" then create an Mpeg2 file using DVD NTSC and I get a .mpg file with audio.

The DVD ARch template only generates a video stream - no audio.

If I select "Make Movie" then "Burn It to DVD", I can specifiy a video file and separate audio file to generate...but no other settings. There is no DVDArch option or the like.

My basic question, I guess, is: What do I do to generate (from within MS) an mpg file with audio that I then use in DVD ARch. and will subsequently burn with audio.

Sorry, I didn't realize you were talking about MS. When you create an MPG file that's a system/program type, it can include audio multiplexed in with the video.

DVDA likes the audio and video in seperate files; even though it wants a system stream for the video. With Vegas you render 2 seperate files - the video and then seperately the audio as AC3.

Does anything need to be done to prepare and burn the separate files. I too imported a Video studio mpg file with audio ON it. Two. and made a very simple menu. did the rendering (2 hrs) and when I hit Prepare I got a memory error of some kind, unfortunately I didn't write it down (..."message missing"...?). Anyway I was doing nothing but preparing and burning am I supposed to do more with the audio.
Thx.
