Nope, no tips.

You've gotta overlap them to get a transition. If you can't show more of the clips than is there you have to pull the on on the right over to the left so they overlap that way. If that doesn't work then you'll have to go reshoot the scenes so you have something extra that you won't mind the audience seeing. Ain't no way around that.

only otherway I guess would be to put a vel envelope on the 1st clip to freeeze the last frame and use that feezed portion for your overlap in transition maybe...Just a thought

Say I have two clips and they are cut right where I want them to be. But I need a Transition to occur between them....

I think this is a contradiction.

However, are you aware you can change the properties of transitions in Vegas? For a simple crossfade, if you right click on the transition, you'll a bunch of curves that will allow you to change the behavior for crossfade. For example, you can have the first clip fade away fast and the second clip come in right away, or you can have both clips fade in and out slow, etc. If you play with these, it might get you want you need.

By definition, a straight Cut is exaclty what you've said. No transition .. nothing. Just from Clip A to Clip B . .. However, you might want to introduce an empty event in black or white and at the very end of A dissolve to black/white and the same at the other end of the empty event. Maybe you are wanting a short "pause" to be placed between the two clips? You maybe wanting the audience to "consider" what they'ev just sen and/or want them to be "primed" for what they are ging to see next?

Apart from that, and not really aware of WANT you want to achieve I'm at a loss. Maybe you might want to expand a little on what you are wanting to achieve . . I'm listening . . ;-)

I think i get what you folks are saying, i suppose i could also time stretch the last few frames.

thanks. i love this forum because its got so many helpful people

VV is so cool

I just wish you could show and hide tracks!

1/- You stretch the last few frames of an Event, you start to be repeating the Event itself! This will be identified - not only by you "seeing" this repeat - by a "notch" in the top edge of the Event.

2/- "I just wish you could show and hide tracks!" - try the Mute button. I use this to Show and Hide tracks I don't want to be part of a Preview. Excellent when I'm experimenting with complex stuff like Masks; Bumps, Displacment, Height Maps; FXs: Chroma keying and so on. And don't forget audio too!

. . oh .. if you want to visually "remove" from T/L - try Minimising Track too. This means it will still "work" and have an effect on your project, but will only appear as a very tiny line of frame images. Was this what you were wanting?

“ …i suppose i could also time stretch the last few frames.”

Another option, depending on how long the events are, is to time stretch the entire event rather than a few frames; Cntl-drag the edge of one or both events to get your desired overlap. If the stretch causes less than about 5% change to the original event time, it should be nearly imperceptible.

on the track above the two scenes,( space out), place a generate media color, still frame, over the trans spot. applied the desired effect to the start and end of the media.
