Hey Sony...SWF PLEASE!!!!

I would LOVE to be able to render out to .swf from within Vegas. 90% of my projects are for the web and I render out to macromedia flash as flash
plays on every computer system. Now I have to render out to .mpeg 2
and then open up FLIX PRO and render yet again to .swf

I know you are going to include this in Vegas...can you do it sooner rather than later!

One more thing....can you also include a steady cam feature, you know that program that corrects jerky video. If yau can include those two features
I will be the happiest camper!

Thanks in advance

Swishflix will accept an avi...and looks pretty great.
I doubt you'll see a steady hand type filter for Vegas. Resolution loss is significant in these types of processes.

There are significant resolution loses in LOTS of things, if you think about it.

SO, how about putting a decent (scrap that, EXCELLENT) Motion Stabilizer in Vegas and let the user decide. No point preventing the user from deciding what s/he wants to do. If that were the norm, we wouldn't have LOTS of our tools.

I've never used a motion stabilizer before but am curious. The only time this was an issue for me I just did pan/crop keyframes in the clip. Guess that is the manual way. I just ordered Boris Red and it claims to have a good stabilizer.
Where does the resolution loss come from?

Yeah, I've always thought that it makes no sense that vegas can import but not export a .swf

The resolution loss of a stabilizer comes from two places:

1. The natural loss of rez from *any* processing but particularly when an image is being sub-pixel panned and tilted.
2. Stabilizers have to zoom into the image a bit as the image is panned and tilted to keep the edges of the original frame from appearing. The more stabilization you request and the more unstable motion in the source, the deeper the zoom.

If the source is interlaced, you lose even more resolution to the integral deinterlacing process.

I think its just as much Flash's fault they didn't make their Flash Video program which is also a plugin have an export for Vegas like they produced for QT.

In any case, I render out AVI from Vegas and make a swf with QT Pro.

It wasn't much for QT PRO, but you are right it would be better than taking the time to render twice.

Wax - the standalone version - is another choice to output .swf. Good point is Wax is for free :-)

I've found that swf renders can be very poor on some programs. The result is a loss of audio sync. Best I've found is Sorenson Squeeze.
