Can any one help....

I have just completed a new build and am going through to install the operating system windows 2000.

Spec is as follows:

Abit AM7 Board Chipset Nforce Ultra 2
XP 2500 CPU (Barton)
RAM: 256 Winbond (BH5)
120GB Sata

When the installation gets to the formatting stage there is a blue screen error as follows:-

0X00000050 stop missing ntoskrnl.exe

I have tried different RAM, checked the hard drive, cleared the CMOS, flashed the latest BIOS...

Any ideas as to what is causing this?
Thanks

My guess would be the SATA drive. You probably need to build a special driver diskette and then use a Function key combination to tell Windows 2000 Install to load your drivers from diskette.

This is one of the reasons I only have SATA drives for capture and render. I kept an IDE drive for the OS to avoid the problem you’re having. It’s totally doable, but it’s a hassle. Hopefully the docs that came with your motherboard will help you out. I have a Gigabyte GA-8KNXP mobo and it came with a separate manual on how to do the right incantations to use SATA drives as a boot device and get Windows to install correctly. I chose not to even go there.
