Subject:Has Sony given up on Sound Forge?

Forgive me if I'm beginning to sound like a broken record. It's been nearly eight months since Sony's first and only update to Sound Forge 7.0, and they still haven't posted a fix to the bugs in Multi-Band Dynamics and Graphic Dynamics, problems which they have aknowledged. Any word?

Of course, I do have the same suspicion. When will a major update or upgrade be scheduled ?
Soundforge 7a has cleary lost the leadership in Mastering application. Most of Direct X plug Ins on the market, Waves etc... are more effective. Actually, Wavelab 5 seems to be the rigth choice because of their DVD authoring. At least, they do not need to buy an extra application.
What do you think ?

Wavelab 5.0 I haven't used it yet, but have seen a list of the new features. I agree they are quite impressive, but that was preceeded with a couple stagnent versions in my opinion with a long wait from v4.0. With Sound Forge 7.0a for my mastering needs, I have not run into any problems and believe SF7 got some much needed mastering need improvements. As far as plugins, I believe a lot of the Sound Forge plugins are getting long in tooth comparitively, but I don't use the Sony plugins that much and choose to use other vendors that specialize in plugins, but of course you will pay a good price for Waves plugins, exceeding that of Sound Forge's entire price.

Adding to what Red said, Sound Forge 7.0 is $399, while WaveLab 5.0 is $699.

If you were to ask me, WaveLab is no longer what it once was. I can't tell if it's a digital audio editor anymore.

ACID loop creation tools are important to me, so Sound Forge remains my choice.
