As far as I know you will not have nay machine control and you need a Matrox codec. Do a search, this has come up before and I don't think it's entirely goof proof.

BTW are you talking Pro 25 or 50?

The only decent way to get 50 into a computer is SDI (ouch), Even 25 was not really designed to go down 1394, Panasonic saw that interface as being owned by the Evil Sony. They have caved in a bit lately though.

Farss is right, A client of mine has a DVCpro deck and it will capture fine through firewire but going back out is a nightmare. It will only send video without the audio on this deck. I have to use Liquid edition 5.5 which has DVCpro support options to export - Vegas will only export video with no audio???

Thanks for your help guys. I did a search and there's still never any difinitive answer, it all sounds like workarounds. But it sounds like I can go SDI into another capture utility and then edit in Vegas, and export with something else. I'm not sold on the SoFo capture tool, anyway.
