DVDA doesn't see my .m2v file ???

will-3 wrote on 11/15/2003, 12:53 PM
This is my first DVDA project. I'm using Vegas 4.0d to render with Markers set for chapter points.

I rendered video as Main Concept mpeg-2 with DVD NTSC video stream Template

I rendered audio as Dolby Digital AC-3 with Stereo DVD Template

I started DVDA and clicked File | New | Menubased

When I click Insert | Media I can only see the ac3 file.

Using Windows Explorer I see the following files in the folder...
- MyFile000.m2v
- MyFile.ac3
- MyFile.ac3.sfl
- MyFile.m2v
- MyFile.mpg.sfl

But I can only see the ac3 file from DVDA 1.0

Thanks for any H E L P.

Will

The mpeg file suffix should be .mpg.
The .m2v suffic is a single stream file that DVDA can not read.

How come you have .m2v suffix - using vegas with MainConcept MPEG-2 creates a .mpg file ?

It only creates an .mpg when you use the DVD Architect MPEG 2 template. I've made that mistake once before...

Hmmm ???

Here is what I did...

1 - rendered video as Main Concept mpeg-2 with DVD NTSC video stream Template
2 - rendered audio as Dolby Digital AC-3 with Stereo DVD Template

Should I have rendered the video as MainConcept mpeg-2 with DVD NTSC Template and not the DVD NTASC Video Stream Template ??

Thanks - Will

I'll let you know that DVDA "sometimes" adds an m2v file. I have absolutely no idea why it happens.

I create DVD's quite often and once in a while an m2v file will appear in the created folder. Whether or not it's specifically DVDA or some other software on my system that somehow screws things up, I don't know. But DVDA definately does not like m2v's.

Render file as:

Main Concept MPEG 2
----- USE TEMPLATE LABELED "DVD ARCHITECT NTSC VIDEO STREAM."

Scroll below the template you are using...there are MORE...

Then render the same region as a Dolby Digital AC3 file.

Never created a .m2c file.
When you select the mainconcept mpeg2 type - the file name has a .mpg suffix before you render.

You can also check in the "Custom" option of the renderrer - in the System tab the "Save as separate elemntary streams" should be CLEARED.

It might be an installation of other software - like a native mainconcept that changes that.
