I've been messing w/BeSweet to try to produce AC3 files but I'm not a "let's mess with stuff" sort of person (well up to a point but then I can't afford the wasted time any longer) so...

I guess I have to buy the AC-3 Encoder for VV4. I just have to know before plunking down nearly $300 just to find that the first thing I need it for doesn't work :-)

I have a bunch of projects with a bunch of accompanying music (I'm using 44.1 KHz .WAV files.) Is basically what's going to happen is that I will choose to render the audio seperately and then choose .AC3 as the format?

There may be some settings to choose and such but basically this is going to be as transparent as say using .MP3 source and rendering .WAV in VV right now, right?

It is my understanding (I think) that you either can't use .AC3 in the VV4 project as source material or perhap you can but you can't hear the audio in the preview... is that right also?

Thanks,
Tom

Can render AC3 from vegas, cant preview, edit etc... ONce rendered, however, you can preview from DVDA.

you can not use ac3 as source material ..

yes -- you just load all tracks of audio or whatever , mixed mp3 and wav or other formats and just render to ac3 ... for mono tracks you can select if they are l or R or both ... and for 5:1 you can pan any of the tracks to any point plus keyframe pan positions ..

you can select your sample rate and ac3 settings you will render to -- the source doesnt mater (sample rate) as vegas will convert (you can select quality of conversion) ..

you can time or pitch shift any of the tracks also ..
