TWO DIFFERENT COMPUTERS - ALL OF A SUDDEN CAN'T CAPTURE ANYMORE

I HAVE SPENT MY ENTIRE EVENING TRYING TO FIGURE THIS OUT, AND I GIVE UP. I CAN'T CAPTURE USING VV3 CAPTURE ANYMORE. IT JUST HAPPENED THIS WEEKEND.

I HAVE TWO COMPUTERS. I HAVE A SONY VAIO LAPTOP (I TRIED THE SFSONY.EXE, IT SAYS THAT MY VAIO DOES NOT HAVE THE NECESSARY DRIVER INSTALLED) AND LAST WEEK IT WORKED FINE. I HAVE NOT INSTALLED ANYTHING NEW. I HAVE TWO DIFFERENT DV CAMERAS, TOOK ALL THE CAPTURE ADVICE FROM THE SF KNOWLEDGE DATABASE, ETC. NO GOOD. I EVEN TRIED USING THE INTERNAL HARD DRIVE INSTEAD OF MY EXTERNAL CASE.
MY OTHER COMPUTER IS A FRANKENSTEIN, BUT IT WORKED 100% ALSO AS OF A FEW WEEKS BACK.

AS SOON AS I PRESS "CAPTURE VIDEO" IT STOPS IMMEDIATELY. 0 FRAMES CAPTURED, ZERO ZERO ZERO, NOTHING AT ALL. I HAVE NO CLUE AS TO WHAT THIS COULD BE AND I THINK I AM PRETTY GOOD AT THIS STUFF. WHAT IS STRANGE IS THAT IT IS 2 DIFFERENT MACHINES AND 2 DIFFERENT DV CAMERAS. I COULD SEE IF IT WAS ONLY ONE, BUT THE ONLY COMMON THREAD IS VV3.

THANKS

It won't be the cause but you might be able to capture in the meantime by turning off device control in (VIDCAP40) Options -> Preferences (General tab) [] Enable DV device control. You'll need to control both ends manually, preroll the camera etc.

You could try "Default All" on the same interface panel mentioned above. (the main change folk make is the Disk Management for where you choose to send your capture-transfers)

Hummmm curious to know why.

I had the same problem and once I turned off the Enable device control (uncheck the box) I didn't get 1 dropped frame. Don't know why that is....my only explaination is that maybe this device (a DVCPRO camera) is not recognized and therefore cannot be controlled.
