Subject:AC-3 5.1 REALTIME ENCODE TO DIGITAL OUTPUT?

hello all,

my question is about vegas 4.0 realtime playback possibilities.
for what i see is that vegas enables realtime mixing for analog output. but i need the stream as a realtime 5.1 digital output (optical/coax) through my DIGI96/PAD monitoring via a digital receiver.

is this possible? or is the only way of getting AC-3 STREAMS via the render option?

many thx for your support
martin

Yes- you have to render.

Correct me if I'm wrong, SonicEPM, but can't you also render the .ac3 file and then send it out with Vegas (I'm not familiar with the program, but I own Acid Pro 4.0 and the 5.1 plug-in pack) from the digital output of say a Creative Labs 5.1 card to a 5.1 surround receiver or one of the stand-alone 5.1 receivers Creative makes? Ultimately, though, powmax, it would be better if you got a true 5.1 sound card with a digital audio output and a 5.1 speaker system that you can monitor your surround mixes on before you render.
