This will, in fact, happen with all of our products, and it's an unfortunate collision of the Microsoft bug described in the eHelp document you reference with the drop-down text we use in online help.

Ultimately, we decided that since this is online help, the printing issue wouldn't affect many users and that the screen real estate we conserve by using drop-downs in the help window was more important). We'd expected that most users would be printing single help topics as needed rather than complete sections of the help file. The issue will be resolved when we convert our existing help files to use a newer version of our help-authoring tools.

Thanks very much for the reply even if it's bad tidings for now.

I'm familiar with the (admirable) manuals but there are occasional omissions (I think I'm right in saying that there is no up-to-date PDF available for Video Capture for example) and there are often nuggets to be found only in the help files.
