Can't create a Template with Acid Pro -AC-3 Encoder

Hey, guys, maybe you can help me out with this. I purchased the 5.1 plug-in pack for Acid Pro 4.0 and installed it. I did all the surround panning but can't use "render as" to render the .wav files to AC-3 files because the program tells me that there is no compatable template for that. So I try to create a template, but it still won't work. Do I need a 5.1 soundcard so that I can designate what channel to send each .wav file in my project to in order for the plug-in to work?
